This meal list/plan incorporates foods that are purported to have anti-inflammatory properties. There are 6 breakfast recipes, 10 lunch recipes and 30 dinner recipes as well as a 21 day sample menu. An anti-inflammatory meal pattern is high in fruits, vegetables, whole grains, beans, nuts, spices and fish. Whole grains replace refined grains commonly eaten in the American diet. Healthy fats like avocado, olive, and canola oil replace other vegetable oils and butter. Saturated fats, trans fats, sugars and processed foods are purported to be pro-inflammatory and are used sparingly. Since red meat contains saturated fat, there are few recipes including beef in this anti-inflammatory meal pattern. All meals are intended to be balanced by including protein, carbohydrates, healthy fats and fiber. Balanced meals help promote healthy blood sugars and help us to feel full longer.
